Staff Letters: Phil

...All the shots I take, I spit back at you!!...

Holy crap! Last time I wrote a letter I was rushing to get everything ready for a trip I thought would never come. That trip came, kicked my ass, and left. I spent five weeks on the road with Metallica, and lived to tell about it. You can expect a killer review soon. Its almost done. For status reports, check our message boards. Its currently approximately 18,000 words!

Returning to normal life is easy... but trying to play catch-up is hard. I still have backlogged email that I said "I'll have to come back to that." And I will. Eventually.

But enough about the trip, you willhave more than enough information about it soon.

Some St. Anger thoughts. My world has totally grown on me. I really love this song as much as the rest now. Shoot Me Again continues to kick my ass!! I put that song on repeat more than any other. Unnamed Feeling and Purify have also got a lot of repeats this month. The whole album is just amazing though.

My job is going well. I really enjoy what I'm doing. We're in the middle of a re-org that may effect me, but may not. We'll see.

I'm taking one class: Operating Systems. Finished the first project today. It was a really cool project that involved finishing code to impliment threads in the kernel (i.e. make the kernel capable of handling multithreaded applications), and then write two multithreaded applications to test our kernel code. It was a lot of fun.

Other than that, I'm still getting my house together. I got ceiling fans in my bedroom and office which helps greatly. I got a dining room table and an entertainment center which make it feel very home-y. And that's about it on that front.

Oh. For those wondering about the car... I bought a brand new 2003 Honda S2000. Got it with 21 miles. Got back from the trip with nearly 12,000! Woohoo!

In the coming months IPOM is going to get back into full swing, so be prepared!

Oh yeah... a funny conversation from work for you (I'd put this under quote of the month int he vibe list, but its too long):

Coworker (to another coworker): You listen to rap?
Me: No... he went to the Metallica concert with me!
Coworker: What's Metallica?
Me: Heavy metal... rock...
Coworker: Ya mean like Jazz?

I cracked up on and off all day. I thought that was hillarious!!

Lastly, I want to say hi to Rachel... the hottest girl on tour!
