Staff Letters: Phil

...I'm your pain when you can't feel...

What a shitty month. Two hard drive crashes, a dead alternator, a whole bunch of lost data, and F in math (not final grade, but current)... that's just the beginning. I'd like to spend a lot more time updating the site, but there's just very little time. Updates will come, I assure you. I did update the FAQ to go along with the boys' new Grammy.

I was thinking the other day... I'm REALLY looking forward to the new album. I mean, like, I'm totally fuckin' stolked. I actually get really excited when I think about it. I look forward to the changes, and the new music, and the surprises and everything. I can't fucking wait! I'm really curious who will replace Jason... but I'm sure I'll love the new album regardless. And knowing Metallica, whoever comes in, being a 'newcomer' won't have much writing authority anyway... they're very protective.

Well I have an automated backup system in place now. Anything can die and I'll be a maximum of a day or two out. My backup plan is only temporary, I'm gonna go out and buy more zip disks and have an incremental backup system soon (i.e. 5 different backups running on 5 different days on 5 different disks)... so I can loose a hard drive and 4 zip disks and be fine. I also backup my site and my other stuff to two different files so that if one get's corrupted by a bad sector or something I can recover the other. Eventually I'd like to backup to a tape drive on my server, but that's a much bigger setup that I don't have time or money for right now.

Well, that's about it for now, see ya in like 5 days when it's March and I get to write another letter =).
