REQUIREMENTS

SUGGESTIONS

Before handing out your software to the world you may want to put a license on it. Two popular freeware licenses out are:

I believe using these licenses is as simple as putting the text into you're program where people have access to it (for example the 'help' menu or a 'README' file), but you should double-check this. Whichever license you pick, make sure to READ IT CAREFULLY.

Additionally, we encourage authors to include the source to their software. In fact, I believe it's required in the above licenses. Including the source enables people to feel better about downloading your software because they can check it for backdoors. Additionally, they can port it to other platforms. It is not a requirement, but it its somethign we strongly encourage.

RESTRICTIONS/PORTING/OS

You can post software for MacOS, Windows 9x, Windows NT/2K, Linux, *BSD, Solaris, BeOS, HP-UX, SCO Unix, etc. I don't care what OS your software is for, just MAKE SURE TO TELL ME so I can put that one the site.

I think porting is awesome. If you want to port someone's software, send them an email. I can't give you permission to do that. Also, check their license, you may not need to ask them (although it's still nice to). If you send me a port of someone's software, please tell me that it is so, and that you've asked them, etc., etc.
